Kellner was born in Manhattan, New York to a psychologist/photographer mother and a squash player/Greek classics scholar father who was a Hungarian Jewish immigrant. She attended New York University's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 1995. She currently resides in New York City.
