Boliviana de Aviación or simply called BoA is the state-owned national flag carrier airline of Bolivia along with private airline AeroSur. It was established by the Bolivian Government under the president Evo Morales, replacing the troubled Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano as flag carrier. The airline is headquartered in Cochabamba and its main hub is Jorge Wilstermann International Airport. As of 2007 details of the airline's proposed fleet have not been released. Initially, the airline began flying domestic routes but it expanded to international destinations after eight months of its foundation in 2007. The government says that it aims to "democratize air transport in Bolivia" through the airline, although also says that it will operate under commercial conditions and without subsidies. The company's General Manager Ronald Casso, who was appointed by the President of Bolivia will hold office for a five-year term. Boliviana de Aviación operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft serving a comprehensive domestic network reaching all the main centers of population as well as international flights within Latin America. The airline is currently undergoing a rapid expansion, supported by the government. It recently incorporated a Boeing 737-300 to its fleet and also plans to open new routes for 2011 which include Caracas, Havana, Lima and Santiago. LESS
