Adapted from the famous play of Indian playwright Girish Karnad’s ‘The Fire and the Rain', Agnivarsha is the story of human relations. The chief priest Paravasu conducts a grand fire sacrifice to please the God of rain, Indra. While Paravasu’s brother Arvasu is in love with Nittilai, a tribal, his cousin Yavakri returns to create trouble. Yavakri lusts after Paravasu’s wife Vishakha. Paravasu’s father shows no mercy in punishing him and sends Brahmarakshas, a demon after him. What ensues is a battle that would see no mercy.
