Ahmet was born in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles, California, the third of four children born to businesswoman Gail Zappa and musician Frank Zappa. In the late 1990s, Ahmet appeared on Channel 4 UK's The Adam and Joe Show, in a regular segment called 'Vinyl Justice', in which hosts Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, dressed as policemen, examined his vinyl collection for 'criminal records'.
