3XX (Radio 1611am) is a broadcasting station in Melbourne, Australia. 3XX 1611 AM is on the top end of the AM dial. Transmission is from Hoppers Crossing on frequency 1611 kHz, with a format of predominantly music from the 1980s and 1990s. 3XX (Radio 1611am) was established in late 2002. The station's studios were set up in a small office in the south of Melbourne, intended as only a "short stay" arrangement, which for various reasons turned into a longer stay than expected. The station was intended to be established as a Western Suburbs station, and talks have been in train with view to move to a new location in Footscray (Western Melbourne). The first song broadcast by the radio station was "The Boys are Back in Town" by 70's rock band Thin Lizzy. This reflected the station's heritage and former association of the station founder with the now defunct former test station City FM. 3XX has gained its popularity through broadcasting a mix of 80s and 90s hits and dance music, mixed with new tracks from the pop/dance/top 40 genre.
